Tournament Management: Running a Live Event

Once your bracket is built, this is the screen you'll spend the night on. The Tournament Screen shows the live bracket plus three bottom panels — Standings, History, Stats — and the ⚙️ Settings modal lets you change just about anything without restarting.

A. Live Bracket View

The main view during a tournament — the bracket itself, plus three collapsible panels at the bottom: 📊 STANDINGS, 📜 HISTORY, and ⚡ STATS. Each panel updates in real time as matches complete.

👁️ Showing and hiding panels

The bracket fills the top portion of the screen. The three panels sit below it.
Tap the panel header (e.g., 📊 STANDINGS) to expand or collapse just that panel.
Use the − and + buttons on each panel header to shrink or grow the panel's font size for projection screens.
To hide a panel entirely, open ⚙️ Settings → Live View Panels and toggle Standings, Match History, or Player Stats off.

Tip: Watching the tournament from a TV? Increase font size with the panel + buttons and hide whichever panel isn't useful for spectators.

B. Instant vs. Scheduled Tournaments

Every format picker opens the same Create or Schedule modal with two choices: start now, or set a date and let players pre-register through a public link.

Tap any format in ⚡ Quick Create.
In the modal, tap ▶️ Create Now.
Fill out Tournament Setup (Sport, Tier, Match Format).
Add players in Step 2 and tap Start Tournament.

📅 Schedule for Later

Tap a format, then 📅 Schedule for Later.
Pick a Scheduled Date/Time and Registration Close Date.
Enable Allow Pre-Registration to generate a public join link + QR code.
Share the link. Players self-register until close.

Where to find scheduled tournaments later

Tournaments tab → 📅 Scheduled — shows count badge with all pending tournaments.
Tap any row to open the Scheduled Tournament modal with current capacity and registrations.
Quick actions on the row: ▶️ Start Tournament, ✏️ Edit, 📋 Share, 🗑️ Delete.
Share opens a QR code + URL you can post to social or print for your venue.

C. Mid-Tournament Settings

Almost every setup option stays editable while the tournament is running. Find the ⚙️ Settings button in the top-right of the Tournament Screen header.

⚙️ Open the Settings modal

On the Tournament Screen, tap the ⚙️ Settings button (top-right).
The modal opens with every editable section for that tournament's format.
Make changes and tap the green Done button at the bottom.

What's editable mid-tournament

Match Format — Best of 1 / 3 / 5 / 7 buttons.
Bracket Background — Dotted or Grid.
Live View Panels — toggle Standings, Match History, Player Stats on/off.
Round Robin Options (RR only) — Enable Lives Mode + Lives per Player; Custom Rounds + games per player.
Swiss Options (Swiss only) — Number of Rounds, Allow Draws, Rematch Policy.
Handicaps — Show handicap next to player names.
Table-Side Score Entry — Allow refs/players to submit scores via QR code.
Table Assignment — Enable tables, add/edit/delete, mark active/featured.
Show BYE vs BYE Matches — toggle visibility of placeholder matchups.
Theme — Dark or Light theme grid.
👥 Manage Player Profiles — button that opens the player profiles modal mid-event.

D. Tournament Complete Screen

When the final match ends, the 🏆 TOURNAMENT COMPLETE modal opens automatically. It shows every player's final placement with their W-L record, points for/against, and point differential.

🏁 Closing out the event

Review the placement list. Each row shows medal (🥇 🥈 🥉), player name, and stats (W–L · PF · PA · PD).
Tap a player name to open their profile from the modal.
(Optional) Tap ✏️ Edit Placements to override the auto-calculated order — see section E below.
Tap ✓ Confirm Tournament (Lock Results) to finalize and lock the tournament to view-only.

Other buttons on the Complete screen

← Back to Tournament (View Only) — close the modal, keep the bracket visible without locking yet.
Same Format — instantly spin up a new tournament with identical settings (great for double-headers).
New Tournament — start fresh in the full tournament creation flow.

Tip: Locking results triggers any tournament-completion automations and rolls placements into player career stats. Edit placements before you lock — manual changes after locking require a director with elevated permissions.

E. Manual Placement Override

When external tiebreakers (head-to-head, chip count, judges) decided the final order, you can override the auto-calculated placements before locking results.

↕️ Reorder placements

On the Tournament Complete screen, tap ✏️ Edit Placements. The button label changes to ✓ Done.
Each player row now shows ▲ and ▼ arrow buttons on the right.
Tap ▲ or ▼ to move a row up or down (swaps positions with the adjacent row).
A yellow banner appears: ⚠️ Manual placement override active — will be used when locking results.
To revert to the auto-calculated order, tap Reset order.
When you're satisfied, tap ✓ Done to exit edit mode.
Tap ✓ Confirm Tournament (Lock Results) to save the manual order to every affected player's record.

Tip: The manual order applies to player career stats too — so a tiebreaker-decided 2nd place still counts as 2nd in their profile and on the leaderboard.
